Haley Koopman
Foster Care Specialist
Haley grew up in the Emerson, Nebraska area with her parents. She is the youngest of 5 children with quite an age gap between her and her next sibling, so she was able to enjoy parts of the “only child” lifestyle growing up. She and Willard (best friend and beagle) spend time together going for walks, snuggling up to a book or watching a crime show, whenever they get a chance. Haley also spends as much time as she can with her parents, siblings and 4 nephews and 3 nieces.
Haley attended Wayne State College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Counseling. She started her professional career at a childcare center and providing family support and visitations services to families in Nebraska. She was also quite active in the Early Childhood Association where they planned community activities for area children to participate in throughout the year. Haley continues to help and support that Childcare Center which helped her get her start in the field.
Haley joined Building Blocks in November of 2015. Her passion for working with young people and her ability to relate to the adults in a family have provided her great success and enjoyment from this work. Haley has a unique talent that allows her to connect with “teens with attitudes”, and she can make strong attachments with youth who typically don’t attach well to others. That relationship brings about change in perspective, builds hope and youth are finally able to envision what success might look like.
