Alexa "Lexi" Ames
Foster Care Specialist

Lexi is a Norfolk area native who lives with her two dogs George and Luna. Lexi is the second oldest of a very large family that was created through birth, adoption, and guardianship. She brings many years of lived experience with the Child Welfare System as her family were foster parents since she was young. She has watched children reunify with their family of origin, struggle with visits, have emotional meltdowns and behaviors due to their adverse experiences and find their forever home. There is no substitute for first-hand experience.

Lexi obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Midland University with the intention of continuing to help children and families. She completed her internship at the Masonic Eastern Star Children’s Home in Fremont, NE as an Assistant House Parent. She has completed training to write foster/adoptive home studies, roll fingerprints, and is currently providing direct support to Foster Parents.

Lexi joined the Building Blocks team as a Foster Care Specialist in October 2023, with the purpose of helping children in foster care thrive because they are with well trained, well supported foster parents.
