Bob Thomas

Resource & Licensing Supervisor

Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and his Master’s degree in Family Consumer Science from University of Nebraska Lincoln. He has taught the GED program in O’Neill for Northeast Community College for the last 16 years.  He has been awarded GED “Instructor of the Year” twice.

Bob joined the Building Blocks team in January of 2011. Prior to that He worked for DHHS in numerous roles, Diversion Services of Lincoln and Omaha, and Boys and Girls Home.  In most of those roles he was involved in licensing foster homes and contract compliance.

Bob has been involved in his community by serving on the O’Neill Family Preservation Team, Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership Board of Directors, North Central Community Care Partnership Board of Directors, Area Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition Board of Directors and the HC4HC Drug Free Group. He is married, lives in the O’Neill area and has 3 children.

 

Bob says, “I was drawn to this line of work to help people. My favorite part of this work is helping people get approved or licensed to care for children, seeing children properly cared for and seeing kids go back to their parents or seeing them adopted by their foster parents”.
