There are many ways you can help foster children and foster parents in your community; here are some ideas of things you or your business, church or service organization can do to support foster families.
1. If you own a business, offer discounts or free services to foster families.
2. Offer to give a foster child free lessons in music, dance, art, etc.
3. Donate money or goods for special occasions such as holidays, birthdays, or graduation.
4. Help organize local recreation camps or other activities for foster children, or offer scholarships to existing camps or activities.
5. Offer to help support and organize local foster parent appreciation events such as banquets, picnics or potlucks.
6. Volunteer to help local foster parent support groups by offering child care during meetings.
7. Organize an "Undie Sunday" at your church or "Undie Monday" at your school or work place to collect underwear and socks for foster children.
8. Host presentations about child abuse, domestic violence, and foster care to raise awareness of these issues.
9. Distribute empty baby bottles to be filled with donations of money "Bottles for Babies" to be used for diapers and other infant supplies.
10. Help recruit people you believe would make good foster parents.
11. Consider becoming a foster parent.
12. Donate money or supplies for Kits for Kids, or for other projects.
